I was reading an article on PartnerSource today which details various changes Microsoft have planned for the website in the coming months.

One which grabbed my attention was their intention to build in RSS support, enabling us to subscribe to content and receive updates via our favorite news readers.

This is good news indeed.

But will everyone be as excited as me?

Apparently there are still only 5.4% of internet users who use RSS aggregators or XML readers to consume information from blogs and other high content web sites.

Step forth the May 1st RSS Awareness Day

A campaign to help raise awareness of the RSS format and increase usage of feeds amongst internet users.

You can visit the website at rssday.org and even help promote the event by placing a banner on your own website or blog.

I must confess that I only discovered the joys of RSS after buying my first Mac.

I don’t know how I could function without it now.
